By LVFD Members and Officers
April 3, 2020

Recently, while looking through our archives, we came across a copy of our meeting minutes from 1918; only three years after the founding of our department. Our charter members could never have imagined that such an enormous challenge was threatening not only the department’s existence, but the lives of the members and their families. What we discovered was that just like today, The Lineboro Fire Department cancelled all gatherings and meetings in order to deal with the deadly Influenza Pandemic of 1918.

Here’s the good news: Not only did we survive, we thrived. A short two years later we built the building you see in this photo (circa 1920), and it remains a cornerstone of our community. Through resilience and determination, the Lineboro VFD has built our fire department on the spirit of these early settlers. That original building is still in use today, and has been the foundation of our progress. It remains a symbol of our department’s dedication to serve.

102 years later, we again face an enormous challenge. We have done this before. We already know that we will not only survive, but we will thrive. Please be reassured that we are working tirelessly to ensure that emergency services go uninterrupted. We’ve been doing a pretty good job at this for the last 105 years.

We can’t wait to see you all again in our (YOUR) fire hall.
